IMPORTANT SERVICE CHANGE NOTICE
Effective 20 August 2026, the diagnostic number (VDN) generated by KDS 1.0 will no longer be transmitted to e-Report or GWMS.
Customers still operating KDS 1.0 must transition to KDS 2.0.
Dear Customer,
This notice is a follow-up to the previously announced security upgrade of the diagnostic service servers. Please read the details below and complete the required actions before the effective date.
▶ Previous notice: Notice for Customers Using KDS 1.0, Transition to KDS 2.0 Required
AT A GLANCE
- Effective date: 20 August 2026
- Target: Customers using KDS 1.0
- Applicable regions: Europe, Asia, Pacific, Oceania, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and US Territories
- What changes: Diagnostic number (VDN) is not transmitted from KDS 1.0 to e-Report / GWMS
- Reason: TLS 1.2 security requirement — KDS 1.0 does not support TLS 1.2
- Required action: Transition to KDS 2.0 (or replace the tablet where KDS 2.0 is not supported)
- Maintenance window: 20 August 2026 (Thu) 08:00–10:00 UTC (17:00–19:00 KST)
1. What Is Changing
From 20 August 2026, the diagnostic number (VDN) created during vehicle diagnosis on KDS 1.0 will no longer be delivered to the following systems:
- e-Report — diagnostic report transmission
- GWMS — warranty/work management data linkage
As a result, diagnostic results performed on KDS 1.0 will not be registered in e-Report or GWMS, and any downstream task that depends on the VDN cannot be completed.
2. Why This Change Is Being Made
To comply with security standards and strengthen data protection, the communication protocol of the diagnostic service servers has been upgraded to TLS 1.2.
KDS 1.0 does not support TLS 1.2. Once the requirement is enforced on the e-Report and GWMS linkage, KDS 1.0 can no longer establish a secure connection to those servers, so VDN transmission fails. This is a security requirement and cannot be bypassed by a KDS 1.0 update or a setting change on the device.
3. Expected Impact
3-1. Direct impact from 20 August 2026
- The diagnostic number (VDN) is not transmitted from KDS 1.0 to e-Report.
- The diagnostic number (VDN) is not transmitted from KDS 1.0 to GWMS.
- Work that requires the VDN to be registered in e-Report or GWMS cannot be completed on KDS 1.0.
3-2. Related restrictions previously announced
- Functions that require server communication or a network connection may become unusable or may return errors.
- Even if the diagnostic app launches, failures may occur during server-related procedures (authentication / download / update verification), making normal use difficult.
Please note: This restriction applies to KDS 1.0 only. Devices already running KDS 2.0 are not affected by this change.
4. Required Actions
Step 1. Check the KDS version and the tablet OS
Confirm whether each tablet in operation is running KDS 1.0 or KDS 2.0, and check the Android OS version of the device. KDS 2.0 requires a device that meets the supported specification.

Step 2. Transition to KDS 2.0
By moving from KDS 1.0 to the KDS 2.0 platform, you ensure compatibility with the latest OS and security protocols, enabling stable and reliable service including e-Report and GWMS linkage.

Step 3. Replace or upgrade devices that cannot run KDS 2.0
For devices that cannot use KDS 2.0, please update to Android 8.0 or above where possible. If the device cannot be upgraded due to manufacturer policy or hardware limitations, replacement with a device supporting a higher OS version, or transition to new equipment, is advised.
Step 4. Prepare your workshop before the effective date
- Download essential resources and updates in advance.
- Back up locally any materials required for on-site work.
- Secure alternative equipment so that diagnosis and reporting are not interrupted.
5. Schedule
Until 19 August 2026 — Transition period. Please complete your KDS 2.0 transition and device replacement plans.
20 August 2026 (Thu) 08:00–10:00 UTC (17:00–19:00 KST) — Scheduled maintenance window. VDN transmission from KDS 1.0 to e-Report and GWMS stops.
Any further changes to this schedule will be announced separately through this Help Center.
6. FAQ
Q1. What exactly stops working on 20 August 2026?
A. The diagnostic number (VDN) produced by KDS 1.0 will not be transmitted to e-Report or GWMS. Diagnostic results carried out on KDS 1.0 will therefore not be registered in those systems.
Q2. Why is TLS 1.2 required?
A. To comply with security standards and strengthen data protection, the communication protocol of the servers has been upgraded. Applying the latest standard improves network security and stability.
Q3. Can this be fixed by updating KDS 1.0?
A. No. KDS 1.0 does not support TLS 1.2, and this cannot be resolved by a KDS 1.0 update or a device setting change. Transition to KDS 2.0 is required.
Q4. Can the issue be resolved by upgrading the OS?
A. Some devices may have upgrade restrictions due to manufacturer policies or hardware limitations. Please update to Android 8.0 or above if possible. If not, transitioning to devices supporting higher OS versions is recommended.
Q5. Is KDS 2.0 affected?
A. No. This notice applies to KDS 1.0 only. KDS 2.0 supports the required security protocol and continues to transmit to e-Report and GWMS normally.
Q6. What must be done during on-site operations?
A. Before the effective date, please download essential resources and updates in advance, locally back up materials needed for work, and secure alternative equipment.
Q7. What about additional costs or support?
A. Equipment replacement / transition and support policies may vary by corporation and region. Please contact your regional representative or the Quality Service team for detailed guidance.
