If you're experiencing issues with your VCI II module, it's essential to determine whether the device requires repair or if the problem can be resolved through troubleshooting. Below is a comprehensive guide to help you assess and address common issues, including an understanding of the LED indicators.


VCI II Troubleshooting Guide

1. Power Issues

  • Symptom: No beep sound or LED illumination when connecting the VCI II to the OBD connector.

  • Action:

    • Ensure the VCI II is securely connected to the vehicle's OBD-II port.
    • If there's no beep or LED light, the issue may be related to the power board or main board. In such cases, the VCI II might need to be repaired in Korea. For repair service, please email ics@gitauto.com with following information
      • Dealer or Distributor code
      • Description of symptoms with photos or video
      • Serial number of VCI II
      • Date of purchasing VCI II
      • Address to Return after repair 

2. Wireless Connection Issues

  • Symptom 1: VCI II serial number is not detected on GDS Mobile or in Bluetooth settings.

    • Possible Cause: Potential problem with the wireless board.
  • Symptom 2: Unable to establish a wireless connection.

    • Actions:
      • Verify that the Bluetooth pairing PIN code is '0701'.
      • Perform a VCI II firmware update via USB cable and attempt the connection again. 
  • Symptom 3: Wireless connection disconnects during GDS-M functions.

    • Action: Ensure that the Power Mode is turned off. For detailed guidance, refer to the related FAQ on disconnecting VCI II wireless connections during GDSM/KDS functions.
  • Recommendation: For a more stable connection, it's advisable to use Wi-Fi Direct. Initially, Bluetooth establishes the connection, but after a certain period, Wi-Fi Direct takes over, providing enhanced stability. 

       


VCI II LED Indicator Guide

Understanding the LED indicators on your VCI II can provide valuable insights into its current status:

LED Color Meaning Action Required
White VCI II is powered on but not yet connected to the tablet. If this is the first-time setup or if communication fails, navigate to Configuration > Module Connections to establish the connection.
Green VCI II is successfully connected to the tablet and communicating with the vehicle. No action needed; the device is functioning correctly.
Red VCI II has lost communication. Disconnect the VCI II from the OBD-II connector, wait a few moments, and then reconnect it.
Blue VCI II is performing an ECU upgrade. Allow the upgrade process to complete without interruption.
Yellow VCI II is in Flight Record mode, communicating only with the Trigger Module and not the tablet. To resume communication with the tablet, disconnect the Trigger Module from the power outlet.
