Direct Answer: If the J2534 program fails to read vehicle information or freezes during ROM ID5 collection (e.g., stopping at 85%), inspect the following physical conditions:

  1. Cable Connection: Ensure the OBD-II cable and USB cable are firmly plugged in. Use a wired USB connection instead of wireless.
  2. Ignition Key State: Ensure the vehicle ignition is set to IG ON (do not start the engine).
  3. Battery Voltage: Ensure the vehicle battery remains above 12.0V by connecting an external battery charger.
  4. Device Driver: Check Windows Device Manager to confirm the Pass-thru device driver (e.g., VCI II(2), VCI III(3)) is properly installed.
