Installation Failure with an message "Unable to connect to update server" while using PC Manager

 

Problem: You encounter an "Unable to connect to update server" error message while installing GDS Smart or KDS 2.0 using the PC manager.

                               

Cause: This error often occurs when your network firewall restricts access to the GDS smart/KDS 2.0 update server.

Solutions:

1. Try Mobile Hotspot/Tethering:

  • Before making firewall changes, try connecting your PC to the internet using a mobile hotspot or tethering from your phone.
  • If the update works with a mobile hotspot, then your network firewall is likely blocking access.

2. Allow Access Through Firewall (if mobile hotspot works):

  • You need to add an exception rule in your firewall for the GDS/KDS update server.
  • The specific steps will vary depending on your firewall software. Consult your firewall documentation for instructions on creating exceptions.

What to Allow:

  • Domain: gsup.gitauto.com
  • IP Address: 14.49.41.33
  • Port: 443 (Standard HTTPS port)

Important Note:

  • Modifying firewall settings can affect your computer's security. Only allow access to trusted servers.

Additional Tips:

  • If you're unsure about modifying firewall settings, consult your network administrator or IT support.
  • You can also try temporarily disabling your firewall (not recommended) to see if it resolves the issue. However, re-enable it after the update process.
