Notice for Customers Using GDS/GENESIS Mobile Android OS 4.4 or Below — Server TLS 1.2 Implementation Scheduled (First Phase in January 2026)

1) Overview

To enhance security, TLS 1.2 will be applied to the diagnostic tool update servers in Europe and China.
Some 3rd generation diagnostic tools operating on Android OS 4.4 or below currently do not support TLS 1.2, so when applied, updates and diagnostic service usage may be restricted.

2) Expected Impact

• Functions requiring server communication or network connection may become unusable or may encounter errors.
• Even if the diagnostic app can be launched, failure may occur during server-related procedures (authentication/download/update verification), making normal use difficult.

3) Customer Guidance and Recommended Actions

(A) Preliminary Self-Check — OS Version Confirmation

1. On the tablet, go to Settings → About tablet → Check Android version
2. If it shows Android 4.4 or below, please proceed with the following measures.

(B) Measures

• OS Upgrade: If upgrade is possible according to device manufacturer policy and hardware limitations, updating to Android 8.0 or above is recommended.
• Tablet Replacement/Transition: For devices that cannot be upgraded, replacement with devices supporting higher OS versions or transition to new equipment is advised.

• Transition to GDS Smart: By using the GDS Smart platform instead of the existing 3rd-generation diagnostic tool, you can ensure compatibility with the latest OS and security protocols, enabling stable and reliable service.

4) Schedule and Follow-up Notices

• First phase implementation: January 2026 (Specific date will be separately notified once confirmed)
• After implementation, service use may be restricted on devices with OS 4.4 or below, so please perform preliminary checks and establish transition plans during December.

Q1. Why is TLS 1.2 being implemented?
A. To comply with security standards and strengthen data protection, the communication protocol of the update servers is being upgraded. Applying the latest standard improves network security and stability.

Q2. What issues will occur with Android 4.4 or below devices?
A. Due to lack of TLS 1.2 support, server-linked functions such as authentication, download, and verification may not work or may produce errors, restricting use of updates and report integration services.
