What to Do When ECU Upgrade Fails

Step 1: Verify Compatibility Before Starting the ECU Upgrade

Before performing an ECU upgrade, confirm that the upgrade is appropriate for the vehicle by checking the following:

  • Technical Service Bulletin (TSB):
Refer to the relevant TSB to ensure the update applies to the vehicle.

  • ROM ID and Part Number:
Verify that the ROM ID and part number match the requirements for the update.

  • Vehicle Details:
Double-check the powertrain, model year, and specific vehicle model to confirm compatibility.

⚠️ Proceed with the upgrade only after verifying these details. Skipping this step may result in upgrade failure or improper ECU operation.

Step 2: Submit the Error Log Report

Submit the error log report through the Log Collection function:

  • Access Path:
    Configuration > Error Log Collection
    Navigate to:
Myfiles > Internal storage > nvcidata > log > ecu
Compress the entire "ecu" folder or selectively compress log files, ensuring the total size does not exceed 20MB.

  • Refer to the official video guide for sending the error log.

Step 3: Notify Your Distributor and Leave a Message on GSW

Let your distributor know that you have submitted an error log report by providing the following information:

  • Report number

  • VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)

  • Distributor or dealer code
