Q1. What is the Smart Key Code Saving feature?
A1. The Smart Key Code Saving feature in the S/W Management menu allows you to register a new smart key by entering the KEY PIN into the vehicle's controller (IBU).
Q2. How is the smart key PIN CODE set when the vehicle is shipped?
A2. When the vehicle is first manufactured at the factory, the initial key PIN CODE is registered in the IBU. This PIN can be viewed through the GSW system and is mandatory when registering a new key afterward.
Q3. In what cases does a PIN CODE error occur when registering a Smart Key?
A3. There are two main cases:
1️⃣ Incorrect PIN CODE registered in GSW
- When initially registering the PIN in GSW at the factory, a value different from the actual PIN was mistakenly entered.
- In this case, using the PIN retrieved from GSW will continue to fail to register a new key.
- Since the PIN registered in GSW is incorrect, no matter how accurately it is entered, it will not match the PIN stored in the IBU, causing authentication failure.
2️⃣ PIN CODE input error after IBU replacement
- If the IBU has been replaced after the vehicle was shipped, and an incorrect PIN was entered/saved in the replaced IBU at that time.
- If, instead of entering the existing PIN retrieved from GSW, a different PIN is mistakenly entered, that value will be saved in the newly installed IBU.
- As a result, the PIN retrieved from GSW and the actual IBU PIN become inconsistent, causing new key registration to fail.
Q4. How should the PIN CODE be managed after controller replacement?
A4. The following procedure must be followed:
- After replacing the IBU, accurately update the PIN CODE in GSW.
- Verify that the PIN retrieved from GSW matches the value stored in the actual IBU.
