GDS-Smart Installation Guide – GIT FAQ | North America

Please follow the installation steps outlined below to ensure a successful installation of the Hyundai GDS-Smart diagnostic software.

NOTE: The installation process takes approximately 20–30 minutes, depending on internet stability and speed. To minimize downtime, ensure the tablet is fully charged and connected to a stable internet connection.

IMPORTANT: During installation, multiple confirmation and permission pop-ups will appear. Immediately select the following options when prompted:

Install Anyway
Allow
While using this app
Continue

Failure to respond to these prompts promptly may result in a corrupted installation.

Installation Steps

Step 1 (00:00 – 00:25)

Navigate to Settings > Security and Privacy > App Security and turn off the Scan apps with Play Protect feature.

Step 2 (00:25 – 00:45)

Locate and open the previously downloaded SmartLauncher.apk.

Step 3 (00:46 – 00:50)

Select Allow and Activate to permit SmartLauncher to begin the installation process.

Step 4 (00:51 – 00:54)

Press Agree to accept the Samsung Knox U.S. Privacy Policy.

Step 5 (00:58 – 01:20)

Select HMA as the Distributor from the drop-down list, then select OK to proceed.

NOTE: SmartLauncher may restart to update GDS to the correct version. If this occurs, relaunch SmartLauncher and repeat Step 6.

Step 6 (01:21 – 01:54)

Enter the required login credentials:

Dealer Code
User ID
Password
Tablet Serial Number

The Tablet Serial Number can be found under Settings > About Tablet. Select OK to proceed.

Step 7 (01:56 – 02:00)

Select Online Download and confirm by selecting Yes. This process will download new installation files and remove any existing diagnostic software.

NOTE: Any inserted SD card will be erased. Remove the SD card if files need to be saved.

NOTE: Ensure the tablet is plugged in or has at least 30% battery.

Step 8 (02:00 – 02:10)

Once the download is complete, select Install to continue.

IMPORTANT: Do not leave the tablet unattended after selecting Install. Always respond to permission prompts immediately by selecting Allow. Delays longer than 5 minutes may corrupt the installation.

Step 9 (02:11 – 02:25)

When prompted, grant permissions for camera, video, location, and file access.

Select While using the app (twice) and then Allow.

Step 10 (02:37 – 02:46)

Registration is required for tablets that did not previously have GDS-Mobile installed. Enter the following information:

VCI II / III Serial Number
Dealer Code
Tablet Serial Number

NOTE: The VCI serial number is located on the bottom label of the VCI device (e.g., NGD12345).

Select Add if this prompt appears.

Step 11 (02:50 – 03:10)

Check for internet updates to ensure the latest version of GDS-Smart is installed.
