Storage Mode (Shipping Mode) Switching Failure Code 1000

For all vehicle models, this article explains the cause of the error that occurs when attempting to turn on [Shipping Mode] after returning from a road test, and the correct switching procedure.

Symptoms

When attempting to turn on [Shipping Mode] after returning from a road test, the following error occurs.

"Failed to turn on Shipping Mode - Error Code 1000. Check ignition status and try again"

Cause

Immediately after driving, while the engine is running (Engine ON), the vehicle controller refuses to switch to [Shipping Mode] for security reasons.

Correct Switching Procedure

  1. Switch the vehicle off completely (Engine OFF).
  2. Without depressing the brake pedal, press the [Start] button 2 times to switch to IG ON (instrument cluster illuminated, engine stopped).
  3. Close all doors and try switching to [Shipping Mode] again.
