App Error Handling Guide

GDS Smart / GENESIS Smart If the app freezes or closes unexpectedly when launched, please follow the steps below before requesting support.

 

Q1. The screen freezes or suddenly shuts down when I launch the app. Why does this happen?

The diagnostic app communicates with an internal service that prepares the connection to the vehicle communication device (VCI) when it starts. If this service does not respond properly, the app becomes unresponsive and may be forcibly closed by the Android system.

 

Q2. What should I do if a forced closure occurs?

Please follow the two steps below in order. This is the official recommended procedure from the GIT development team.

Step 1 — Initialize Communication Service

  1. Open Settings on your tablet.
  2. Find GITCommManagerService under Applications.
  3. Tap Force Stop.
  4. Tap Storage and then tap Clear Data.

 

Step 2 — Restart the Diagnostic App

  1. Find the diagnostic app under Applications.
  2. Tap Force Stop.
  3. Launch the app again.

 

Q3. The issue repeats even after the above steps. What should I do?

If the issue persists after Step 1 and Step 2, please perform a complete restart of the tablet.

  1. Completely turn off the tablet (power off, not restart).
  2. Wait for 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
  3. Connect the VCI and launch the app.

 

Q4. What should I do if the issue continues even after all steps?

If the issue continues despite all the above steps, please obtain a dump log and submit a support request. Logs contain essential information for identifying the cause, and accurate analysis is difficult without attachments.

Step 1 — Obtain Dump Log

Step 2 — Include the Following Information When Submitting a Support Request

  • The obtained dump log file
  • Tablet model and Android OS version
  • Date and time when the issue first occurred
  • Whether the issue occurs on a single device or multiple devices simultaneously
